The assets of the local body
Assets of Local Bodies
All kinds of property owned or controlled by Local Self Government Institutions (LSGIs) are generally called 'Assets'.
Simply put, these are things that belong to a panchayat or municipality and are maintained for public use. They can mainly be categorized as follows:
1. Physical Assets
These are things you can see and touch:
Buildings: Office buildings, schools, hospitals (PHC), anganwadis, markets, community halls.
Land: Open lands owned by the local body, parks, playgrounds, cemeteries.
Roads: Panchayat/municipality roads, bridges, culverts.
Machinery: Vehicles (for example, waste collection vans), tractors, street lights, computers.
2. Water Assets
Public wells, ponds, tanks, irrigation canals, drinking water schemes.
3. Financial Assets
